It is virtual world where children can play games, have fun and interact with each other. Each player starts by choosing a penguin, giving it an identity, and then exploring Club Penguin.

Interact with other penguins by chatting, playing games, using emotes (emotion icons) and a set of predefined actions. (i.e. wave, dance, sit, walk or throw a snowball). By helping other participants and playing games, you can earn virtual coins. As a member, you can spend these coins on clothing and accessories for your penguin or furniture for your igloo.

Club Penguin is designed for 8 - 14 year olds, but is open to children of all ages. Although anyone can enjoy the Club free of charge, they won't have the same privileges as paying members, such as buying clothing or decorating their own igloo.

Club Penguin has within it several mini games that allow you to earn coins. Some games, like Ice Fishing, are one-player games. This means that you can play these games by yourself. Other games, like Find Four, are multi-player games, meaning you play them with other penguins.

Move around:

• To walk around, click where you want to go, and your penguin will walk towards that spot.
• If your penguin does not move where you want it to go, there may be something in your way, like a piece of furniture or a snow bank. Try clicking in a different direction to move around the obstacle.
• To move through a door or to enter a room, click on the door.
• The Map is your shortcut to the rest of the penguin world.
• Click the map icon on the bottom left-hand corner of the screen to open it. Once open, you can click on the area of Club Penguin that you want to go to next, and you will automatically go there.

Controls:

There are many short cuts to communicate by emotes and actions. To use the short cuts, or quick keys, make sure to click outside of the text box at the bottom. Use the Arrow keys to change directions, "S" to sit, "D" to dance, "W" to wave.
